The Detoxifying Down Low

I know I say I’m busy, BUT YALL… I’m really not lying this time.
Job #1 Sports is an ever-changing industry and NEVER stops and neither do I… help.
Job #2 Our summer swim practice schedule has started, which means early morning practices!! Again, HELP.

I know I’m not the only person who is juggling 3 different things at once, so I wanted to share with you guys different ways to detox the body. Not necessarily #self-care tactics, although it does fall under that category, but more ways to clear the system and mind. So let’s dig in…

Water: The basis of life. Tired? Drink water! Stressed? Drink water! Need clear skin? Drink water! We really don’t give water enough credit, and yes I’m including myself in that. They say we need to drink eight 8-oz glasses of water a day. That’s doable, right? Water clears your whole system and it is really hard to have TOO MUCH water.

TIP: No matter what, try to have a glass of water in the morning right when you wake up, and right before you go to bed at night. I promise you’ll see a difference.

Ginger Root

I posted this on my IG story a few days ago. Ginger is amazing for so many things! You can use a whole ginger root (my favorite), powder, or juice it! Ginger has many anti-inflammatory properties that is good for the muscles. It also aides in digestion and helps flush things out that may be “blocked” if you know what I’m sayin’.

TIP: Chop up about 5-7 pieces of the ginger root and drop into a pot of about 2 cups of water. Bring water to boil and let steep for about 5 minutes. Pour into a cup + a little honey and enjoy!

Fiber to me SCREAMS digestion help! Or just a good cleansing of the system! Foods that are rich in fiber are chia seeds, flax seeds, spinach, brussel sprouts, blackberries and raspberries.

TIP: Add the fruit to a smoothie to make sure you get enough fiber in your diet.

So….a lot of people have asked me what this is. And its new to me too, don’t worry.

Dry brushing- The art of literally brushing your body.

We brush our teeth, our hair, why not brush our skin? Dry brushing (and there are specific brushes for this so plz don’t use a rough brush) helps stimulate the lymphatic system and energize you for the day if done in the morning (recommended). It also exfoliates resulting in buttery smooth skin aka you’ll be SHININ’

TIP: Right before your morning shower, take 5 minutes to dry brush your whole body with body oil- your skin will thank you!

I can’t say enough about sweating. I used to hateeeeee sweating. The bane of my existence. But now I LOVE IT. I feel like I’m getting rid of toxins, well…because I am. Don’t feel so bad on the treadmill for 30 minutes, you’ll feel so much better for it.

TIP: Work out everyday!

What other ways do you guys detox on the regular? I would love to know!

Also if you haven’t already, make sure to subscribe to my blog so that you never miss a post by yours truly!

Until next time city slickers,
